Launched in 2016, The Concert Truck is redefining how people experience live music by bringing world-class chamber music directly into everyday spaces—city streets, parks, schools, and neighborhoods. At its heart is a 16-foot box truck transformed into a fully equipped mobile concert hall, complete with lights, a professional sound system, and a grand piano. This innovative stage makes it possible for world-class artists to share exceptional performances outside traditional venues, creating unexpected, welcoming encounters with music. By meeting people where they are, The Concert Truck strengthens community connections, inspires new audiences, and demonstrates that live music can thrive anywhere a truck can park.

Through collaborations with leading arts organizations, The Concert Truck has helped drive awareness and develop closer relationships between institutions and the communities they serve. Past residencies have included partnerships with the Kennedy Center’s Washington National Opera, the Gilmore Piano Festival, Piano Cleveland, the Aspen Music Festival and School, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and performing arts centers across the country. Guest artists have included world-renowned performers such as James Ehnes, Lawrence Brownlee, Ursula Oppens, Shaun Martin, and Jerome Lowenthal.

The Concert Truck mission is deeply committed to education and inspiring the next generation of artists and music lovers. In addition to playing for thousands of students and creating specialized programming for children across the country, it co-created an online children’s program in partnership with the Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival that has reached more than 55,000 students in North Carolina public schools. It also maintains ongoing collaborations with institutions such as Rice University and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, mentoring young artists in community engagement and entrepreneurial artistry.

Founded by pianists Susan Zhang and Nick Luby, The Concert Truck entered a new chapter in 2025 when it was acquired by the Seattle Chamber Music Society (SCMS), an organization that shares its mission of making chamber music welcoming and accessible to all. Now a core SCMS program, The Concert Truck continues to advance its mission of accessibility, engagement, and artistic excellence with renewed support —turning spontaneous outdoor moments into lasting connections with music and community.
